Introduction
Finding the right IWB (Inside-the-Waistband) holster can be incredibly frustrating. Many people start out by purchasing cheaper, mass-produced options, hoping they’ll be a good fit, only to realize they’re uncomfortable, poorly constructed, or simply don’t meet their needs. These inexpensive holsters often result in multiple returns and trial-and-error purchases. Wearers struggle with issues like inadequate retention, bad concealment, or painful pressure points. Eventually, after wasting time and money on temporary solutions, most end up buying a higher-quality, more expensive holster anyway, one that’s actually designed for comfort, durability, and a custom fit. It’s an exhausting process that leaves many wishing they’d just invested in the right holster from the start.
Avoid these brands like the plague: We the People Holsters and Mike’s Holsters. They’re cheap for a reason, mainly poor design, uncomfortable fit, and subpar materials. Many people end up frustrated with constant issues like weak retention, holster collapse, and discomfort, only to eventually replace them. Don’t waste your time or money.
I had my run with poor quality holsters. I’ve been working on finding holsters that much more comfortable, concealable, and durable. I think I’ve found my favorite so far.
JM Custom Kydex
While looking at holsters for my new Glock 43X, our editor Paul recommended JM Custom Kydex. Paul’s been a JMCK user for a number of years, and has yet to have a bad holster from them. Even when I found solid choices like Tulster and Priority 1, Paul was confident I’d get a better fit with a JM Custom Kydex holster. Trusting his judgment, I gave it a shot. Month’s later I am finally ready to give my thoughts! For transparency, I did buy this one and have had no communications with any members of the JM team at the time of this article.
JM Custom Kydex is a popular choice among firearm owners who prioritize comfort, retention, and speed for their concealed carry needs. The QuickShip AIWB Wing Claw 2.5 Holster is what I ended up buying. This holster, as the name suggests, is designed to ship quickly, giving users the benefit of custom-quality craftsmanship without a long wait time (A few weeks tops). The AIWB Wing Claw 2.5 is made for appendix carry, specifically for midsize guns. For my G43X, this holster made the most sense compared to the other AIWB options from JMCK.
Editor’s note: JMCK is a shooter’s brand. They make holsters for people who plan to use them, and don’t hock garbage. I’ve owned 16 holsters from them over the years, and have yet to get one that let me down. JMCK doesn’t really advertise much, but folks in the know really do like them. I recommend the holsters strongly enough that I’ve actually purchased them them for some of our staff!

MY Experience
The best thing I can say about this holster is that I’ve fallen asleep in my recliner multiple times with my firearm securely attached to my belt, and never once have I woken up sore or fatigued from carrying it. What many other brands overlook due to mass production standards are the small details. Individually, each of these might seem insignificant, but when you bring them all together, they make a huge difference in comfort and usability.
1. Custom Fit
One of the standout features of JM Custom Kydex holsters is their customizability. The AIWB Wing Claw 2.5 is designed to fit specific models of firearms. They offer two ways to buy it, either Quick Ship, or Custom. The difference between the two is lead time, and firearm offerings. The Quick Ship is offered in close to 100 handgun choices, while Custom nearly doubles that (lots of oddball guns offered). While one is faster than the other, the quality is the same between the two. The level of precision in design ensures that the holster maintains a tailored fit for your particular firearm, offering excellent retention and preventing any unnecessary shifting while worn.
Paul gave me a screenshot of his choices which I will share with you here. I copied them to a T for the holster I received. Editor’s Note: The Wing Claw 2.5 is really made for mid-size guns. Things larger than pocket pistols and small revolvers, but smaller than the traditional “service pistol”.
2. Comfort
Comfort is a crucial factor in concealed carry, and JM Custom Kydex addresses this with their IWB holster. The holster’s smooth Kydex construction ensures it slides easily into your waistband and doesn’t dig into your body. The edges are usually rounded or smoothed to reduce irritation during all-day carry.
There are a variety of clip & claw options to choose from to optimize comfort based on clothing.
3. Kydex Material
The material itself (Kydex), is a molded thermoplastic known for its durability and rigidity. Kydex allows for a crisp, secure fit around the firearm while offering a smooth draw and reholster. It also holds up well against wear and environmental conditions, making it ideal for daily carry. Additionally, Kydex is a great choice because it won’t collapse under pressure, which is important for the ease of reholstering.
4. Adjustable Retention
The AIWB Wing Claw 2.5 comes with adjustable retention, which is a key factor in ensuring that your firearm stays securely in place while still being easy to draw when needed. Depending on your preference, you can adjust the tightness to ensure a snug fit, preventing unwanted shifts or drops.
5. Cant And Ride Height
Another notable feature is the adjustable cant (angle) and ride height options. This customization allows you to adjust the holster to your preferred drawing angle and position on your waist, ensuring a more comfortable and efficient carry, regardless of official conceal position (AIWB is ideal).
6. Minimalistic Design
The QuickShip IWB holster is designed to be low profile, minimizing bulk. This makes it ideal for those who prefer a concealed option that doesn’t print (show outlines) through their clothing. The slim design ensures it fits comfortably inside the waistband without adding extra bulk.
7. Variety of Firearm Models
JM Custom Kydex offers the QuickShip IWB holster in configurations for popular handgun models, including but not limited to Glock, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson M&P, and Springfield Armory. So, no matter what your everyday carry gun is, they likely have a mold for it.
8. Speed of Delivery
The “Quick Ship” in the name refers to JM Custom Kydex’s commitment to getting your holster to you quickly. Truly custom holsters can often take a months for a well respected holster maker to finish. Editor’s note: JMCK does offer custom holster options (same quality as quick ship, just more variety of handguns offered), and the lead time fluctuates between 5-8 weeks. JM Custom Kydex commits to getting these quick ship options out in 1-2 weeks which is truly impressive for the quality of work. I know some of you are mentally trained for the Amazon Prime 2 day experience, but I highly encourage you to see this option as a middle ground!
9. Variety of Colors and Finishes
These holsters come in a variety of color and finish options, from standard black to a wide range of camo patterns and even custom prints. This allows users to personalize their holster to match their style or tactical needs.
CONCLUSION
If you’re looking for a high-quality, custom IWB holster that combines durability, comfort, and functionality, but you don’t want to wait weeks for it to arrive, the AIWB Wing Claw 2.5 Holster from JM Custom Kydex is an excellent option. It’s designed for those who need something fast, but also demand craftsmanship and quality when it comes to carrying their firearm concealed.

AUTHOR'S NOTES | July 8th 2025
Don’t be embarrassed if you already bought the Amazon 2 day delivery holster! If you are still within your return window, send it back asap. Even if you don’t land on JM Custom Kydex as a choice for your next carry holster, consider a brand that will take the time to address the details. Editior’s note: Tenicor, Harry’s Holsters, and PHLster would be alternate recommendations from me, if you decided not to go with JMCK.
I have a filing cabinet full of crappy kydex holsters I justified buying because I “won’t shoot the gun as much”. As such, because of the shitty holsters, I just don’t shoot the guns. A quality holster completes any firearm.
