DRILL INSTRUCTIONS
This is essentially a double split-Bill drill, but with an emphasis on working some other skills into it. This variant comes from our very own Evo!
Setting Up The Drill: Place your two USPSA torso targets downrange, shoulder to shoulder. Shooter then moves back to the 7 yard line to perform the drill.
Drill Instructions: On timer beep, shooter draws their handgun, and fires 3 rounds freestyle into the left USPSA torso, and then fires 3 rounds freestyle into the right USPSA torso. Shooter then performs a mandatory reload (slide forward). From there, shooter fires 3 rounds STRONG HAND ONLY into the right target, and 3 rounds STRONG HAND ONLY into the left. Only A-zone hits will count as a clean run of the drill.
Scoring and Handicaps: We’re using hit factor scoring. Points ÷ Time = HF.
A requirement: All 12 hits must be in the A-zones to score. If any shots land outside of the A-zones, the string is a zero.
Shooting from an open rig = no handicap.
Shooting with a duty rig = 0.2 sec handicap (remove .2 seconds from your drill time).
Shooting from concealment (draw and reload) = .5 sec handicap (remove .5 seconds from your drill time).
Shooting from low ready = .9 second penalty (add .9 seconds to your run time).
Safety note: Any unsafe gun handling voids the run.
Summary: This a double split-Bill Drill, but integrates in a reload, and some strong hand only shooting. Both are great skills to work on their own, but adding them to a drill that requests accuracy and speed from the shooter is better.
Your grip will really be put on trial here, especially for the SHO portion. A fast run will require good recoil control, and with the requirement of the accuracy standard, you’ll need to make sure you keep it tight too.
