WINNING PRIZE: Any T-shirt from our store!
DUE DATE : 5/27/2026
Scoring : Hit Factor
ROUND COUNT : 6 Rounds
DISTANCE : 7 Yards
TARGET : 1x USPSA Torso Target
Please read the drill instructions carefully.
DRILL INSTRUCTIONS
Setting Up The Drill:Â Place your USPSA Torso target at 7 yards from the firing line.
Starting Position: For those shooting from the holster, your start is handgun loaded and holstered, with hands below the beltline. For those shooting from low ready, begin with your handgun loaded, and at low ready.
Drill Instructions:Â Shooter will begin standing with wrists below the belt line. Upon the audible start, shooter will draw from the holster and engage the USPSA target in this order: Chest-Eyebox-Chest-Eyebox-Chest-Eyebox. Shooter should fire a total of 6 rounds for the drill.
Scoring and Handicaps: We are using Hit Factor scoring for May’s drill. If you are unfamiliar with this scoring system, it is your final score divided by your time.
Alphas are worth 5 Points, Charlies are worth 2 Points, and Deltas are worth 0 Points. We’re dropping the value for Charlies, as we’re really trying to focus on those good eyebox hits.Â
You can shoot this drill from low ready, but if you do, add one second (1.0) onto your time as a penalty.
If you shoot this drill completely from concealment, remove 0.4 seconds from your time as a handicap bonus.
Shooting from an open/overt rig will not incur a penalty or handicap. Use your raw time for scoring.
Safety note:Â Any unsafe gun handling voids the run.
Summary: The Reverse Konami Code is a drill of my own creation, and draws inspiration from the classic videogame cheat code. I wanted to make a drill that requires quick torso shots, but requires some deliberate shooting for good eyebox hits. I’m really a fan of the tighter scoring area of the eyebox, and am happy to work it back into one of our DOTMs.Â
